Nov. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Worldwide Comedy Presents another great "Comedy For A Cause" event in our nations capital with headliner Eliot Chang and  featuring Vince Barnett.

As with all Worldwide Comedy events, a portion of the proceeds  will go to benefit a non-profit organization. CureSearch for Children’s Cancer http://www.Curesearch.org

CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support children’s cancer research and provide information and resources to all those affected by children’s cancer. CureSearch raises funds for promising research conducted at more than 175 hospitals across the nation. These hospitals participate in National Cancer Institute sponsored clinical trials conducted by the Children’s Oncology Group. CureSearch raises funds through individuals, special events, corporations, and private foundations. Charitable giving is especially important now, as federal funding for children’s cancer research has been flat for the last decade, and was reduced by five percent in 2011.

Eliot Chang's sharp biting opinions combined with his trademark polished wardrobe makes his live performances memorable.  He strives to avoid being interchangeable with other forgettable comics.  "The goal is to be memorable."

Eliot is also an actor and improviser.  He studied improv in NY at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) and then with Armando Diaz at the Magnet Theater, where he was on the house team "Jungle! Jungle!"  He continues his acting training in LA with Lesly Kahn.

Many Asian standup comics have lines — the kind they seem unwilling to cross. For example, they seem constrained by lines that keep them from being macho and openly sexual. Eliot Chang isn’t.

Another pleasant surprise: Chang doesn’t seek laughs by ridiculing Asians. In fact, his acts rarely involve ethnicity. When they do, it’s to ridicule people who mock Asians. A topic to which he does seem particularly drawn are the vanities and foibles of young women. His acts have zeroed in on girls who update their facebooks too frequently, the impossibility of snapping one picture for a group of women, the way women refuse to let boyfriends short-circuit arguments.

Eliot Chang is the stud among the current crop of young Asian American standup comics. His facial features are almost too regular for a comedian. He’s a sharp dresser whose clothes show off bulging biceps and sculpted torso. He’s utterly comfortable with his sexuality. In one act he riffs about his fondness for loud, apartment-rousing sex.

The balls-out style carries over to the way Chang works. Unlike most professional comics who hone jokes on paper before firing them at live audiences, Chang takes the stage on inspiration and improvises. He doesn’t write the material down until he’s performed it at least three times to get the kinks out.

Eliot Chang's "Comedy Central Presents" half hour special was voted #2 in the Comedy Central Stand Up Showdown 2011.  Other TV appearance include Showtime's "Minority Report" and E!'s "Chelsea Lately."

The show will also feature DC's own the hilarious Vince Barnett also a crowd favorite. Vince is one of the funniest touring comedians today. He has opened for everyone from Bill Cosby to Kevin Hart. He can regularly be seen touring up and down the east coast at colleges, universities, comedy clubs and theaters to sold out audiences. Audiences love his improvisational style and his ability to integrate them into his routines. He prides himself on the fact that no two shows are ever alike.

Up and comer Said Durrah, fresh off of the Allah Made Me Funny & Arabs Gone Wild Comedy Revolution Tours brings his unique voice and talent to the stage. Durrah was noted as one of the hottest new comics performing today. He can be seen performing in New York City with some of the biggest names in Comedy.
