Golden Chick to Hatch Brand New Locations in San Antonio Market

Golden Chick is opening several new locations in the San Antonio market.

Nov. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- (Dallas, Texas) November 14, 2011 – Restaurant veteran Allen Tharp has had San Antonians eating out of his hand since he opened the first of five Lion & Rose pubs in 2004. But now, the business leader and Golden Chick partner is going to have them lining up for tenders as well.

The cult classic chicken chain currently has almost 100 locations throughout Texas and Oklahoma, with Helotes newest to the group. The restaurant at 12550 East Bandera Road in Helotes will open November 16 with a grand opening to follow the first week of December.

The grand opening will include free samples of signature Golden Tenders as well as a special postcard promotion for a free half dozen of the restaurant’s famous and fluffy hot yeast rolls.

With the help of real estate agent Mike Garansuay, Tharp plans to expand the Golden Chick name throughout the San Antonio area. New restaurants are in the works for 2012 in the high growth areas of Cotulla, McCreless Market, City Base West, Loop 1604, Potranco and the Far West side. Tharp aims continued growth by opening between three and five locations every year after that through an area development agreement that allows for sub-franchising.

“There’s a gap in the San Antonio market for excellent chicken that can be eaten at the restaurant or at home, and Golden Chick is the best there is,” says Tharp. “The brand is well known in Texas, but didn’t have a strong presence in San Antonio before now. People are eager for a step up and a different kind of chicken product.”

Each restaurant in San Antonio will be brand new with an eclectic, modern, quick service style, built from the ground up to cater to local communities who are eager for higher quality fried and roast chicken as well as Southern style sides.

Golden Chick has been a steadfast brand since 1967, content to be at home within Texas and Oklahoma markets alone. However, this fall the brand went international with a location in Amman, Jordan. Plans are also in the works to open new locations in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and other Middle Eastern countries.

“Golden Chick has purposely stayed within a limited market before now, and it’s time for us to step out and show the world what we have to offer—a classic, high quality American menu served up fast in a fun, friendly environment,” says Mark Parmerlee, Chairman of Golden Companies. “Allen is a longtime partner, and we know he’s the right person to help further the brand’s plans for massive growth.”

Tharp is also leading the way into China, with additional rights to nine other Asian countries. The first location in China is scheduled to open in 2012.

“People in San Antonio are looking for new flavors, and people in Asia crave the novelty of bold, American style food,” says Tharp. “Whether you’re in San Antonio or China, Golden Chick is great for a quick and easy bite, a family meal, or even a corporate gathering. With quality and flavor this fantastic, we’re confident that everyone’s going to be a fan.”
