Nov. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- A priest named Zechariah starts the Christmas story, a man who more than likely only got the chance to serve in the temple once in his lifetime. As he is putting the incense on the altar an angel appears. The Bible tells us he was troubled and fear fell on him. Troubled, if an angel appeared to me it would be recorded as, “Jenny passed out and the angel had to slap her to revive her.”

But the angle delivers some mighty news, “Your prayer has been heard. And Elizabeth your wife will bear a son and you shall call him John.” The angel continues telling Zechariah how special John would be. But Zechariah is focused on one thing, “How shall I know this for I am old and my wife is advanced in age.”

I wonder if as Zechariah stood there staring at the angel, thinking about how old he was, if he was remembering all the times they prayed for a child. Throughout their twenties, their thirties, maybe even the beginning on their forties. Most believe they were in their 60’s when this happened. Do you think at some point that prayer request slipped out of their minds? Maybe at some point they decided God had said no? Maybe as Zechariah stood there looking at the angel, Gabriel, he was thinking ‘uh I prayed that 10 years ago and now your answering?’

Do you have some prayers that you haven’t gotten a yes to yet? Me too.
I have one I prayed for years, someone I dearly love doesn’t know Jesus. At times I have prayed with faith. At times I have prayed with desperation. At times I have prayed as routine. And at times I have let it slip off my list. Much as I suppose Zachariah and Elizabeth did.

Join us for a One Night Bible study for ladies as we explore the Maker of Miracles. Possibly, like me, your in need of a miracle. This is the season where we celebrate the greatest miracle,Emmanuel, God with us. Believing that nothing is impossible for our God!

As we explore miracles in the Bible and what they mean to us, you'll be encouraged! You will be able to look at your own life and realize you miracle your God is perfectly capable of providing!

December 2nd at 7 p.m. at NorthPointe Church in Adairsville.
