Road Bike Time Trial Challenge - Uphill Switchback in Palos Verdes on November 19

Nov. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- On Saturday morning November 19 at 10:00, test your mettle with an uphill time trial at the famous PV Switchbacks (PV Dive East). This 1.9 mile course up Palos Verdes Drive East from the ocean side will challenge all cyclists who take on the hill. The elevation gain of 533 feet doesn't seem so daunting when taken at a moderate pace but at time trial pace it's a real effort. The overall record of 6:19 is held by pro cyclist Sid Tamberlay; the amateur record is 6:55. We'll award prizes in four categories: mens, women's, mens 50+ and women's 50+. The prize is a $75 gift certificate from PV Bicycle Center.

As an extra bonus for the Fall version of this challenge, riders will be able to use their own bikes or they can choose from over 50 Specialized demo bikes that will be available all day Saturday and Sunday at PV Bicycle Center in the cycling paradise of Palos Verdes.

As part of the huge 3rd Anniversary sale being produced by PV Bicycle Center this weekend, the Specialized demo trailers will allow riders to take a full hour to try out the very latest and most amazing 2012 Specialized mountain and road bikes.

With both the men's and women's Specialized demo fleets coming to PV Bicycle Center, this will be your best chance ever to come ride some of the hottest bikes around. Some of these bikes, like the women's S-Works Amira, aren't even available yet. Come try the hot new Venge, the bike that Mark Cavendish piloted to five Tour de France stage wins and this year's World Championship.
