America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration Historical Reenactments

Nov. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- PLYMOUTH, Mass. –  Today we associate Thanksgiving with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and of course football. But this year, take a step back in time and enjoy the real tradition of Thanksgiving with enlightening historical reenactments at the America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration.

“We will be showcasing a Portal to the Past at the 2011 America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration,” said America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration Executive Director Olly deMacedo. “Take a break from the big dinner and football games and learn the true meaning of Thanksgiving.”

The America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration Historic Village will provide an educational learning opportunity for the entire family. In fact, plans are to expand the entire experience to include more details about important points in American History.

Some of the many exciting reenactments planned for the America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration are:

-   His Majesty’s Tenth Regiment of Foot
-   Salem Trayned Band
-   Jenney Grist Miller & Wife
-   Sons of Columbia – 1812 Navy
-   Colonial Village Blacksmith
-   Gardner’s Regiment
-   New England Brigade
-   22nd Mass. Volunteer Infantry
-   General and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant

“We will bring history to life as we celebrate all of the rich traditions that make us Americans,” said deMacedo. “It will be a great learning experience for the entire family.”
