Veterans Have Access to Free Educational Content through GCFLearnFree.org

Nov. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- (Raleigh, NC) - Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina® (GIENC®) is one of 182 autonomous Goodwill organizations in North America and 48 associate Goodwill organizations in 34 foreign countries. As a part of Goodwill’s national initiatives, GIENC is committed to helping servicemen and women and their families make a successful transition into civilian life with access to job training or employment.

What can veterans and their families expect?

As a part of the Obama administration's Joining Forces Initiative, Goodwill Industries International, Inc. has pledged to work with serviceman to offer access to a variety of educational resources and job training services.

To help meet the goals of this initiative, GIENC offers GCFLearnFree.org, a program that offers more than 85 free self-paced courses online. Since 1999, GCFLearnFree.org has created and provided quality, innovative online learning opportunities to anyone who wants to improve the technology, literacy, and math skills needed to be successful in both work and life.

Veterans are encouraged to take advantage of lessons in over 85 different topics, including Computer Basics, Microsoft Office, Internet Basics, Email Basics, Social Media, Math, Reading, and Everyday Life. In the Career topic area, there are tutorials on cover letters, resume writing and job interview skills. Instructor-supported online classes in Microsoft Office offer a certificate of completion, which learners are encouraged to place on resumes and utilize in their job search.
