New Fellowship Program for Emerging World-Changers

Movement121 begins accepting applications for the M121 Fellowship for Sustainable World Change
Nov. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Glenview, IL - A new movement is rising amongst today's "cause" generation.  As today's students and young professionals become increasingly disenfranchised with the empty successes and fleeting happiness of material wealth, more and more people are ambitious to make an impact on their world - to be part of something bigger than themselves.  A new wave of emerging world-changers is rising up to address society's most difficult problems, and they aren't just donating money to charities.  They are strategically changing their areas of study, altering their purchasing behavior, volunteering in new roles, advocating carefully-selected organizations through social media, changing careers, and leveraging their professional experiences and networks.  The recent rise of TOMS, Kiva, Taproot Foundation, Opportunity International, fair trade coffee, and fair trade organizations like Trade as One serve as mounting evidence for this new trend.

To invest further in this wave of emerging world-changers, MOVEMENT121 has launched the M121 FELLOWSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE WORLD CHANGE.   121 people aged 18-35 will be selected to become fellows of the program.  Fellows will discover and utilize their unique personal strengths, learn about sustainable ways to change the world, participate in the building of a new social business, champion the cause of eradicating poverty in a sustainable way, and be the first to receive and test out new CAUSEWEAR™ or CAUSEGEAR™.  Fellows will benefit from being a part of a unique community of like-minded world-changers, having their ideas tested, their minds sharpened, and their vision broadened.

Fellows will be selected based on passion, humility, and thankfulness as portrayed by their answers to essay questions.  Applications are currently being accepted and are due December 20, 2011.  Fellows will be announced January 10, 2012.  The program lasts 6 months, starting February 1, 2012 and ending on August 1, 2012.  For more information, visit

The world is in desperate need of world-changers that know how world change actually happens, and do work (professional and volunteer) that actually lasts.  Not just “feel good” work, but “real good.”

MOVEMENT121's vision is to transform 1,000,000 people trapped in unfathomable poverty to become self-sustaining.  Our mission is to activate a movement of world-changers who provide people in the poorest regions with support, hope, capital, markets, and the opportunity to use their skills and resources to establish self-sustaining, legacy-transforming businesses.  Lives are changed forever.

M121 is the exclusive retailer of CAUSEGEAR™ and CAUSEWEAR™, a new type of product that engages an on-going one-to-one relationship between the consumer and the crafter of the product.  Consumers become part of a movement of helping the poor in a sustainable way - they get to know the crafters on an one-on-one basis and see how crafter lives' are transformed through consumer purchases.  For the crafter, the relationship provides life change through self-sustainable on-going income, microfinance opportunities, education, skill development, and business tools.  Both lives are changed forever - the crafter and the consumer need each other to achieve greater significance and purpose in life.  For more information, visit us on the web at
