Visitors to the Gleistein Ropes stand at this year’s METS (Marine Equipment Trade Show) in Amsterdam are set to enjoy witnessing a feast of cutting-edge solutions. The highlights that will be presented by Gleistein at the world’s biggest trade fair for the international marine leisure industry include numerous all-new and enhanced ropes and accessories spanning the whole gamut of applications and deployment variations for the global yacht and super yacht markets. Trade fair guests can also pick up a copy of the completely revamped 112-page Yacht Ropes catalogue – which is hot off the presses. The METS, which runs from 15-17 November 2011, is open exclusively for trade visitors. The Gleistein booth is located in Hall 1, Stand 226.

For more than two decades, the annual METS has showcased state-of-the-art equipment, materials and systems for the marine leisure industry. For Gleistein Ropes it represents an important platform to highlight its latest advances. This year, the top innovations being presented for the first time at METS include:

MegaCoverSystem (MCS) – targeted protection for highly-stressed sections of rope: Significantly improves rope life expectancy. Available as 100% Dyneema® with Geothane coating for optimised protection against fatigue and abrasion of high-quality sheets and halyards – especially in the presence of tight and sharp-edged deflections, or made of% PBO, VEC or TEC to radically increase heat resistance and minimise the fusing of surfaces and to ensure a better grip in cleats and winches.

AT Twin – THE solution for gennaker furling systems: A 12-strand Aramide core enveloped by a 64-strand duplex cover braid made of multilayered stabilised high tenacity filament fibres. It transfers torsional forces over extended lengths, remains flexible and is capable of bearing high loads – making it perfect for use with gennaker furling systems.

GeoTwin Thempest – traditional look, cutting-edge strength: Cover with the look of hemp to befit historical vessels, yet with a high-strength core to stand up to toughest demands.

MegaTwin Dyneema® noveni & MegaTwin Dyneema® HS noveni – tough just got tougher: This virtually indestructible classic Gleistein rope now features the incredible strength of Dyneema® SK90 fibres. Also available in heat set (HS) variety.

TaperTwin – more strength, traction and a new look: Comprehensively enhanced rope that is designed for stripping and tapering – now with a stronger core made of Dyneema® fibres, specially coated to greatly reduce core-cover slippage. Also features a new-look mottled cover.

DockTwin – premium mooring line for yachts: Combines a highly elastic polyamide core with a robust polyester cover to deliver the best of two worlds – elasticity to absorb loads from swells and flexibility for easier and more comfortable handling. Available in diameters up to 48mm.

DynaOne® HS GeoBend – extraordinary textile davit rope: Made of high-strength Dyneema® fibres for up to 20x longer life when subjected to alternating bends under load. The world’s only textile rope for manned tender boats with GL certification.

“The innovations we have in store for METS visitors are the result of our constant investment in R&D and a refusal to rest on our laurels,” says Managing Director of Gleistein Ropes, Thomas Schlaetzer. “We’re showing our customers and competitors what is possible in applied synthetic fibre rope technology today – and you can rest assured we will continue to do so.”

METS takes place in Amsterdam 15-17 November 2011. Gleistein Ropes is located at Stand 1.226.
