Four African American Transgenders (Dr. Kortney Ziegler, Toni Newman. Kylar Broadus, and Laverne Cox) are the First in America to Achieve these Feats and Overcame the Double Discrimination So Many Minority Transgenders Face During Transformation.

Nov. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- African American Transgenders based on the results of the 2011 National Transgender Discrimination Survey face double discrimination both within society and within the African American community.  They face major obstacles and hurdles in transforming.  Here are a list of four african american transgenders who are first in america and trying to break the barriers and make america aware they exist.  

1) Dr. Kortney Ryan Ziegler,  Award-winning filmmaker of Documentary Still Black, Portrait of Black Transmen.  He is also a writer and the first person to hold the PhD of African American Studies from Northwestern University.   http://www.kortneyrziegler.net

2) Toni D. Newman,  First African American Transgender to write Memoir in the United States.  The memoir is called I Rise-The Transformation of Toni Newman.  She holds BA degree from Wake Forest University, certificates in nursing,  computer programming, writing and studying law to obtain Juris of Doctorate (JD).  Her book I Rise is being turned into Featured Film, The Erotic Professionals, starring first african american transgender lead actress. http://www.tonidnewman.com

3) Kylar W. Broadus, First african american transgender lawyer to be called before the American Association of Law Schools on Transgender issues.  He is an associate professor of business law at Lincoln University of Missouri, a historically black college where he serves as chair of the business department. Formerly, State Legislative Manager and Counsel at the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender advocacy group.  He also sits on the board of the National Black Justice Coalition http://www.nbjc.org

4) Laverne Cox, Actress, producer and transgender advocate who made television history when she became the first African American transgender woman to appear on an American reality show with her appearance as a finalist on VH1's "I Want to Work for Diddy.  She also is the first African American transgender woman to produce and star in her own television show, Transform Me. http://www.lavernecox.com

Transgenders are apart of our society and African American transgenders are also an important part of our society and need support and encouragement to exist and survive.   .
