EPA Approval for FYTOMAX, Powerful Bio-rational Insecticide against Tuta absoluta
Russell IPM Ltd achieves EPA approval in the United States for FYTOMAX, a bio-rational insecticide of botanical origin which has successfully demonstrated its superior performance against leaf miners including Tuta absoluta, the tomato leaf miner.
FYTOMAX which is based on the natural plant extract azadirachtin, has already been approved for use on wide range of pests on many food and ornamental crops. Its rapid bio degradation makes it ideal for application on fresh salad crops with negligible environmental impact. http://www.russellipm-
The launch of FYTOMAX came after extensive trials against Tuta absoluta / White fly complex on Tomato crops in many Mediterranean countries which were affected by the pest over the past few years. Tests were carried out in both open fields as well as greenhouses with no signs of resistance development by the pest.
Tuta absoluta http://www.tutaabsoluta.com which devastated Tomato crops in southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East over the past five years has arrived accidentally in Spain from South America in 2006. It is widely feared that the pest may cross to North America through imported Tomato despite stringent controls and preventative measures. The availability of FYTOMAX in the USA will be a welcomed measure available to farmers in the event of localised outbreak.
