Sales of Children’s eBook The Mommy Orphanage to Benefit Chinese Orphans
In celebration of National Adoption month in November, Alexemi Publishing will donate 100% of November eBook sales of The Mommy Orphanage to benefit orphans in China. The donation will be made to non-profit, Half the Sky Foundation.
The Mommy Orphanage is a picture book told from a child’s perspective to present a unique twist on international adoption. When 6-year-old Emily expresses her feelings toward her adoptive mother through the exploration of an imaginary place called a “mommy orphanage,” the story helps spark conversation about children’s beginnings while reinforcing and strengthening family bonds. The 32-page book was recently converted to a color eBook for viewing on the iPad, iPhone, Nook and other devices.
The book was created by the mother and daughter team of Cheryl and Emily Krass. When Emily was five years old, she created the concept of a Mommy Orphanage and Cheryl expanded it into a book. Emily was born in 2001 in the Guangdong Province of China and spent the first 9 months of her life living in an orphanage there. In June of 2002, her parents and big brother traveled to China to adopt Emily and bring her home to her new family. She is now a fifth-grade student in PA.
