November 3, 2011, Dexter, OR -- Lost Valley Educational Center is now accepting enrollment for the upcoming Permaculture Design Course being held from December 1st through 14th, 2011.  
This will be the 21st annual session of this course and the permaculture principles taught offer a positive response to the uncertainties of the future.   For those new to the field, permaculture It is a method of design that offers ways  to create permanent culture by conscious, sustainable use of resources in all aspects of living. This course is appropriate for all levels of students, from beginning to experienced --  the time to plan for a resilient and prosperous future is now.  
The Permaculture Design Course topics include:   Permaculture Ethics & Principles,  Mapping & Design Exercises,  Natural Cycles & Pattern Recognition, Observation & Site Analysis, Garden Design & Establishment,  Useful Plants & Planting Strategies,  Water Harvesting, Management, & Conservation, Soil Building & Ecology,  Animals in the System,  Forests, Agroforestry, & Tree Crops,  Eco-Building & Appropriate Technology, Urban Permaculture & Village Design and Cooperative Economics.
The primary instructors of the course are Jude Hobbs, Rick Valley and Marisha Auerbach.  Jude Hobbs has 30 years of experience in the design & teaching fields, utilizing whole systems design to generate environmentally sound solutions that inspire sustainable actions. Jude shares her extensive practical experience by teaching workshops & courses in the US & Canada. She has developed curricula for diverse learning styles with techniques that are inspiring & information rich. Jude is a  Field Director for the Permaculture Institute (USA) and co-tends 7 acres in Cottage Grove, Oregon, where there are abundant micro-climate.  For more information visit www.cascadiapermaculture.com
Rick Valley is Lost Valley's land steward, and a licensed landscape contractor, designer & nurseryman.  Rick has consulted for communities such as CoHo Cohousing in Corvallis, OR, and Linnea Farm in British Columbia.  During 30 years of permaculture teaching & design experience,  Rick co-taught the first design courses in Oregon, Canada, Belize, and Alaska. Marisha Auerbach has been actively teaching permaculture for the past 13 years with experience in both rural and urban areas.  As a food security activist, Marisha’s international permaculture work has taken her to Vietnam, Nicaragua, and Haiti.  Marisha’s permaculture teachings are focused on empowering individuals and communities to enhance their self-reliance.   For more information visit www.herbnwisdom.com
