Internet domain forum will be held in Sofia on 7 November

Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- A forum on the Internet domains, organized by Association UNINET and Register.bg will be held in Sofia on November 7. The event is dedicated on the ICANN new gTLD program and related issues.

"Domain forum" is the first event in Bulgaria, dedicated to the ICANN new gTLD program. The forum will start with a presentation by the president and CEO of ICANN, Mr. Rod Beckstrom, followed by leading international and local experts in the domains field. Visitors will be from local domain registrars, ISPs, lawyers with focus on intellectual property, Internet users and academics.

The main topic of the forum is the ICANN new gTLD program, together with the possibilities for a Bulgarian application, the Intellectual property protection and the dispute resolution commission in .bg domain. Among the other topics are IDN ccTLDs, IPv6, DNSSEC and cybersecurity.

ICANN approved the new gTLD program in June this year, during the meeting in Singapore. The program will allow creation of new Internet top level domain names, like .sofia, .varna, .cinema or even in Cyrillic - .софия, .варна, .кино, etc. This is one of the major changes to the Internet since its creation, and one of the goals of the forum is to present the information to the Bulgarian Internet community.
