Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- BOCA RATON, FL, Nov. 3, 2011 – Olympic Heights Community High School is pleased to announce that three of its students have become published writers.

The students—freshman Stephanie Judd, sophomore Alexandra Zofcin and junior Christena Carollo—attended a summer writing workshop hosted by the Océ Future Authors project. All three were recognized by having their works published in the 2011 edition of the Océ writer’s anthology entitled Blood, Sweat & Words: Océ Future Authors Project 2011.

This is the fifth year in a row that students from Olympic Heights have been so honored.

“We are thrilled that our students have been recognized for their fine writing skills,” said Kelly Lawrence, an English 1 Honors teacher at the school who also serves as chairwoman of the School Advisory Council. “They are just three of the many talented students we have here at Olympic Heights.”

This is the second year in a row that Alexandra Zofcin has had her work published.

The Océ Future Authors Project was created by Boca Raton, Fla.-based Océ North America Production Printing Systems to help inspire students who love to write. It is a free program offered in partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County.

Now in its sixth year, the free eight-day summer workshop launches students into the full writing process, from writing to editing to digitally publishing books. Students learn and grow under the guidance of certified teachers, published authors and Océ experts. Palm Beach County middle and high school students are selected to participate by language arts teachers based on academic achievement and interest in becoming a published author. The program culminates in a beautiful digitally-published book by Océ that is unveiled at a book signing hosted by the Boca Raton Library.
