Follow on Google News | Out of the Riots and into the LightCelebrity backed Charity Christmas Single starts UK Road Show at Peckforton Castle today to help those affected by the riots. Sung by riot victims, their mission is to help get young people off the streets and out of trouble.
By: Amy Grant A group of unsigned creative artists and bands joined together to raise money for community charities and those affected directly by the riots. It has been done to prove that community spirit and respect amongst young people is very much alive. The aim of generating the money is to try and help people get their lives back on track, support communities, keep children off the streets and away from drugs, violence and abuse. Leni Hazlitt is one of the singers and for her the project couldn’t be closer to home. “My flat took the ultimate sacrifice this summer during the protests and was burnt down. I lost everything and my life fell apart before my eyes. I remember turning to a neighbour and telling them I just didn’t know what was going to happen next. It was a very dark time.” Project Underdog is the brainchild of 21 year old Jo Lloyd from Chester, daughter of Cheshire businessman Rob Lloyd who appeared on Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire TV programme in 2009. Defying the recession, Jo launched her own music company Inscreen Ltd in North Wales and is now working with Universal Music on the charity single. A behind the scenes documentary on the making of the single is due for air later this year on TV. To publicise the campaign, Project Underdog is embarking on a UK wide Road Show which kicked off at Peckforton Castle today with helicopter landing included! Over the coming weeks they will be travelling to all the major cities in the UK to publicise the song and raise vital funds to help keep Britain Great. Leni White, Jo Lloyd and Rob Lloyd are available for print and broadcast interviews.
