By: Blacknight Nov. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- New gTLDs are coming and Michele Neylon, outspoken founder of Irish registrar and hosting company Blacknight has plenty to say about it.
Neylon, who is scheduled to speak out on new gTLDs at the Domain Forum conference in Sophia, Bulgaria, is appropriately orating on the way registrars view the approaching influx of extensions. Domain Forum, which is held on November 7, 2011, is a single day event dedicated to ICANN new gTLD program and will be held at the Grand Hotel in Sophia. The conference hosts eight sessions that include: how to protect our intellectual property in the new gTLDs, IDN experiences in the region and new gTLDs from the Registrar Perspective. Neylon will be speaking in the latter session. Neylon explains: “There are projected to be lots of new TLDs which means lots of potential headaches for registrars. Because each individual registrar won’t be able to offer all of the new TLDs, we need to choose which we will provide based on a variety of criteria. While different things are important to each registrar, we will all be looking for staples such as ease of implementation, simplicity of contract and end user value.” Through the one-day event, attendees will also engage on topics of IPv6 protocol, DNSSEC technology, new gTLDs and the protection of intellectual property on the Internet. Among those encouraged to attend are: domain registrars, Internet providers, gTLD applicants, IP lawyers, end users and members of the academic community. Neylon continues: “It is very important for registrars to be prepared to handle the potential volume associated with new gTLDs and that they be realistic about what they can and want to take on. The bottom line is that the more streamlined the process of a new TLD is, the more attractive it will be to registrars.” To learn more about Domain Forum and new gTLDs from the registrar perspective, visit http://www.domainforum.bg and http://www.blacknight.com. # # # Blacknight are an Irish based ICANN accredited domain registrar and hosting company.
