Witches Rule In New Veronica Blade Book "Something Witchy This Way Comes"

SOMETHING WITCHY THIS WAY COMES and they’re coming for their share of the hot market for teen vampires, werewolves, and, in their case, witches. SOMETHING WITCHY THIS WAY COMES is the title of a new novel by Veronica Blade. The main character/heroine is Tessa McClean, a 17-year-old high-school “brainiac” who discovers she has magical powers. Principal Linton, who also has magical powers and can detect others who do, tells Tessa that she’s being watched by a rival coven of witches and he fears for her safety. It seems that magic isn’t hereditary, and the two groups keep killing each other off.

As their population dwindles, Principal Linton is forced to enlist the help of a human student until backup arrives. That would be Hayden Anders, a rich boy Casanova who travels in different social circles than Tessa. Nonetheless, Tessa is attracted to him. He’s a great fighter but not such a great student. Principal Linton promises to expunge Hayden’s less than exemplary record if he acts as a bodyguard for Tessa for a short while. Hayden doesn’t know that the ones after Tessa are witches and that Tessa herself is a witch.

Tessa and Hayden rub each other the wrong way at the start, but they see the benefits in being forced to act together. Tessa agrees to tutor Hayden, and Hayden offers to teach Tessa self-defense, as ruses for the pair spending so much time together. Tessa and Hayden uncover the truth about the two warring witchy covens – a truth that explains why the factions will stop at nothing to lure Tessa to their side. Tessa has just weeks to form an alliance with one coven or the other, but the wrong decision could cost Tessa the lives of all those whom she loves – including Hayden.

Blade says she got the idea to write SOMETHING WITCHY THIS WAY COMES because “I got addicted to the bad-boy type character. Since I couldn’t get enough at the time, I had to create my own. I’m not sure if I’m satiated yet, so there will definitely be more books up the road with some lovable bad boys.”

“I think this genre has become so popular because many adults are reading it now too,” Blade says. “It’s a time in our lives where we’re not mired down in dead-end jobs and trapped in mortgage payments. We’re on the cusp of breaking free and we’re experiencing new and wondrous things.”

Blade hopes that readers of SOMETHING WITCHY THIS WAY COMES will show readers that “being a teen-ager is hard! They have peer pressure, they’re still dealing with being under their parents’ rule, and they’ll be graduating soon, which will completely change their lives. My characters make all the mistakes that normal kids do, the same mistakes I did. I hope that reading my stories will help readers deal with their problems better than I had.”
