Divabetic Pays Tribute to Miss Piggy, an Unsung Hero in Diabetes Management

Oct. 31, 2011 - PRLog -- (New York, NY)  November is Diabetes Awareness Month and Divabetic, one of the country’s leading diabetes outreach nonprofits, takes the occasion to promote the unsung contributors to diabetes management – Miss Piggy’s ancestors. Thanks to the pig, insulin became a life-saving medication available to the masses. “Maybe a pork doesn’t sound ‘too diva’ but to the diabetes community, the availability of insulin transformed diabetes from a death sentence to a manageable diagnosis,” states Max “Mr. Divabetic” Szadek, Divabetic founder and executive director. He continues, “We also find inspiration in Miss Piggy’s single-minded determination to reach superstardom and finally marry Kermit the Frog. Divabetic continues its Diabetes Golden Rules by the Golden Girls tour, hosted by Mr. Divabetic. The tour showcases traditional diabetes education with a non-traditional approach and an attitude reminiscent of the popular Golden Girls’ characters: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. Tour dates and stops include November 5 at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Expo in Pittsburgh, PA and November 10 at the Meritus Endocrinology Center in Hagerstown, MD with special guests Catherine Schuller, celebrity style and image expert and author/entrepreneur Connie Elder, founder of Lipo in a Box Women’s Shapewear and Underology Anti-Aging Skincare.  Mr. Divabetic also hosts the ADA’s First Ladies Health and Wellness Tea and Hat Fashion Show on November 12 in Washington, DC.
