Nov. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Like many others around this time of the year you may see something you think will be perfect for a friend or family member without any thought to if you can return it if the recipient doesn't like it, so make sure you know your customer rights.

“Many people receive unwanted gifts at Christmas but don’t believe they have any rights when it comes to returning the product, so they just stash it away, wasting the gift buyers time and mone,y” said James Jones from Poor Credit Loans 4 You, who specialise in helping to acquire Christmas Loans for people with poor credit.            http://www.poor-credit-loans-4-you.co.uk/poor-credit-loans-for-christmas-money-for-christmas-loans-for-poor-credit-loans-for-christmas.html

Legally, customers are not entitled to a refund if they simply do not like an item and wish to return it, however, many large stores and some smaller ones will allow exchanges and sometimes full refunds for undesired gifts for a limited time after Christmas.

If you do receive an unwanted item for Christmas don’t be afraid to ask for the receipt from the person who gave you the present through fear of hurting their feelings, it will make the whole process of exchanging it for something you do want a lot easier as most shops will offer an exchange or credit voucher if an item has not been worn or used without any questions, but only if you have a receipt.

“Although shops do not legally have to give you an exchange or refund if you simply do not like an item, when it comes to faulty items the law is a lot stricter and if an item you bought for Christmas turns out to be damaged or faulty then you are entitled to a full refund or an exchange,” said James Jones from Poor Credit Loans 4 You.

When trying to get a refund for a faulty item, you don’t even need to have the receipt when returning it, just proof of purchase such as a bank statement will be enough to get a full refund.

Some retailers may try to shift the responsibility of a refund or replacement to the items manufacturer, but don’t fall for this as the retailer who sold you the product is responsible for setting the problem right.

If the item you purchased is worth between £100 and £30,000 and you made payment for the item with a credit card, the card issuer will be jointly liable with the retailer, so if you are having problems with getting a refund from the retailer you should contact your card company immediately.

“Many retailers may put up a fight and not want to give you the refund you are after, which is why it is a good idea to pay for more expensive items with a credit card as it is considerably easier to get your money back through them,” said James Jones from Poor Credit Loans 4 You.       http://www.poor-credit-loans-4-you.co.uk/christmas-loan-c....

At this time of year many people prefer to shop online rather than go through the task of Christmas shopping on the high street.

When you shop online you get the same rights as you would when buying in store. You also get the right to cancel your order for any reason within seven days of receiving an item bought online and you are entitled to a full refund within 30 days.

Many items bought at this time of year, and especially as it gets closer to Christmas, will have delivery before Christmas as part of their contract and if this is not adhered to you are entitled to a full refund. Some companies may try to get out of offering a full refund as they have ‘bad weather exemption’ written into their terms, but you can still use your seven day ‘cooling-off’ period to return the items that have arrived too late, however there are a few exceptions such as personalised and perishable goods.
