Glass tile installation and advice.

There are different types of glass wall tiles and the tile manufacturer will be able to advise whether the glass tiles you choose are suitable for the area you are tiling. There are many different variations such as size differences, colours and styles and some types of glass tiles are not always suitable for certain areas, the first aspect is to make sure you have the correct glass wall tile before installation.

The colour and style you choose will largely depend on the style you want to achieve and the colours and styles you favour more. There are the clear glass options which are glass tiles that have no colour as such but it doesn’t mean that the clear glass tiles are completely see through,  you may be able to see through to the substrate and the surface underneath the clear glass tile and the surface needs to be thought carefully about. The bubble glass tile has air bubbles within the glass tile which will add both character and style. The frosted glass tile has a frosted appearance and the glass tile will not be see through meaning the surface which the glass tile  has been installed on is not visible.

Many home owners mistakenly think that glass tiles are fragile but actually once glass tiles have been installed they are incredibly strong and durable. They will maintain their colour well and will not fade, for this reason they are popular tiles used in swimming pool areas where the chemicals in the water will not destroy the appearance of the tile.

Glass tiles are however more susceptible to breaking during the installation process and some tillers describe glass tiles as being more difficult to install.  The main difficulty with glass tile installation is that there are many different types of glass tiles and some will require different installation procedures. Mosaic glass tiles for example will require different techniques than the larger glass tiles but an experienced tiller will be able to differentiate between the different types.
If you are not too experienced, glass tile installation is probably best left to the professionals to ensure that the job is carried out professionally. If the area you are tiling is small and you are using small glass mosaic tiles, you may want to have a go at the job independently, tiling a small area is much easier than larger expanses.

The most important aspect is to ensure you have all the correct tools before you embark on any tiling task, it is also very important to ensure you have the correct safety wear before you start.
There are specific tasks that require specific tools and installing glass tiles requires specific tools that will carry out the job properly, if you are in any doubt about tools and equipment, get as much advice as you can before you begin the task, this ensures no tools are missing once you have started the task.
