Children of Little Hearts School Spend Day with Residents of Isle at Watercrest--Mansfield

Oct. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Children of the Little Hearts School walked next door to Isle at Watercrest–Mansfield, the all-new stand-alone comprehensive health services community, to spend time with residents of The Springs, those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, as part of the community’s Fall Festival celebration.

The children, dressed in their best Halloween costumes, each were paired with a resident of Isle at Watercrest–Mansfield. The children and their “adoptive grandparent” spent the morning decorating holiday sugar cookies, coloring festive ornaments, and petting a golden retriever named Amber, a pet-therapy dog who is often brought to the community for the residents to enjoy.  

“Our Fall Festival was truly special,” said Graham Pearce, director of marketing and outreach. “We are thankful to the children of Little Hearts School for spending a day with our memory care residents. It was wonderful to see our residents’ faces light up when the kids walked through the door in their Halloween costumes. Hands-on experiences like these improve the quality of life of our seniors.”
