A.J. Perri Employees Raise over $3,000 to Fight Breast Cancer

Tinton Falls, NJ (October 16, 2011) – A.J. Perri Heating, Cooling and Plumbing recently helped raise over $3,000 for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer as a team of 15 co-workers, family members and friends participated in the 2011 Making Strides of Point Pleasant Beach. 17,000 walkers participated in the event on Sunday morning, including more than 800 breast cancer survivors.

Team leader Debbie Kern, who had been a participant in the walk for several years before joining A.J. Perri, encouraged the company to become involved. A.J. Perri’s management supported her idea and in 2010 the AJP Walkers made their debut; the company also makes a significant annual contribution to the team.

The team focuses on friends and loved ones who have had any type of cancer as inspiration during the walk. Says Kern, “Personally, the walk provides an opportunity to participate for a worthy cause. Because the walk location is so accessible and participation relatively effortless – walking completely at your own pace on a flat course with an ocean view for a portion of the walk – committing to the event becomes an easy decision.  Not to mention, walking; the event is truly inspirational – to be part of something so big with survivors and supporters involved.  It is an effort that really is a ‘feel good’ for everyone involved.”

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk helps to fund groundbreaking research and help people in need receive the screenings and services that they require. Last Sunday’s event raised more than $1.1 million toward that goal.
