Intertechnic launches online ex-fleet auctions to boost used car market

A new online auction for end of fleet vehicles has been launched to help used car dealers source much needed stock for their forecourts.
Oct. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Focused on generating increased returns for end of fleet vehicles and creating an alternative source of stock for used car dealers, refurbishment, logistics and remarketing specialist, Intertechnic, has added an online auction business to its portfolio of services to the automotive sector.

The new website, has been developed in partnership with online auction business, Bluecycle, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aviva, which pioneered its online auction model in 2000.

Offering a comprehensive range of ex-fleet quality used vehicles, which are ‘HPI clear’, units are prepared for auction by Intertechnic. The company, which also offers an in-house refurbishment and PDI service, moves over 4,500 vehicles per month to dealers on the UK mainland.

With over 20,000 man hours of technical development invested in the new website, which supports all the major internet browsers, Intertechnic’s round-the-clock auctions will also ensure that depreciation is minimised, enabling the potential for increased returns for fleet sellers.

Auction users benefit from unique ‘push bidding’ technology, developed by Bluecycle, so that bids are placed in real time without users having to refresh the page. Additional features include the ability for registered buyers to bid from several pages at once.

Intertechnic believes the introduction of its online auctions will save used car dealers significant time and money when it comes to sourcing stock, as Steve Mennell, Managing Director, Intertechnic, explains:

“With dealers under increasing pressure, our new internet auctions will enable them to save time and reduce costs by sourcing quality ex-fleet vehicles online, thanks to our new partnership with Bluecycle. Offering peace of mind that all stock is HPI clear and well maintained, for added convenience, we will deliver cars straight to showrooms anywhere on the UK mainland.”

Commenting on taking its auction expertise into new areas of the automotive sector, Guy Spence, Managing Director, Bluecycle said:

“Through the development of our own proven web architecture, we are in a position to add value to businesses across the automotive sector and beyond which are looking to harness the power of online auctions. Bluecycle’s work with Intertechnic promises to be an exciting opportunity in support of the fleet and used car markets.”
