Vegan Restaurant Opening First Oregon Location in Bridgeport Village November 8, 2011
Bridgeport Village, Portland’s premier shopping and dining destination, announces the opening of vegan restaurant Native Foods Café. The restaurant will open its first Oregon location Nov. 8, 2011.
A uniquely delicious vegan fast-casual restaurant chain, Native Foods Café was founded in Palm Springs in 1994 and currently operates 13 locations in Southern California and Chicago. Featuring seasonal menus comprised of original chef-crafted recipes of fresh and organic plant-based menu items, Native Foods Café is the only restaurant chain in the United States to make its own tempeh, the main ingredient for many of the restaurant’s signature dishes.
“We’re fortunate at Bridgeport Village to have a diverse array of restaurants for our shoppers to enjoy. Opening Native Foods is an exciting way to better serve our vegan clientele,” said Fred Bruning, CEO of CenterCal Properties, parent company to Bridgeport Village. “Non-vegan patrons will also really enjoy the fresh, made from scratch seasonal desserts and drinks.”
All Native Foods Café menu items are either made in-house, from cheeses to sauces, or are 100% natural from the earth. The restaurant also offers free cooking demonstrations each month.
In addition to the Tigard location, restaurants are also in development in Colorado, Washington, D.C. and Seattle, Wash. Native Foods Café aims to be the first fast-casual vegan chain to open nationwide, with a projected 40 restaurants by the end of 2012.
