"Journey to an Exhibition" at BIG ARTS

Oct. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- “Journey to an Exhibition” featuring painter Pat Dunn and sculptor Yuri Tarnawiecki is open at BIG ARTS Founders Gallery now through November 29. Artists Reception is 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 28.

Nationally-known fine arts impressionist painter Pat Dunn has exhibited in Fort Myers, Sanibel, Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Useppa Island and Sarasota, and Giverny, France. Her oil paintings feature artists painting en plein air, landscapes, and portraits.

Sculptor Yuri Tarnawiecki was born in 1965 in Lima, Peru, and moved to the United States 16 years ago. After attending The Catholic University, School of Engineering, he later enrolled at the National School of Fine Arts in Lima. He learned silversmithing from an artisan shop, and uses silversmith processes to create sculptures in stainless steel. Of his creative process he says, “I try to represent what I perceive as reality. I play with form. I try to reach a state where forms start to flow from my deepest psyche. My understanding of cosmology, quantum physics, and consciousness deeply informs my work.”

The exhibit is a celebration of the pair’s journey to becoming artists. Dunn said, “Painting is my way of sharing the beauty of life that often goes unnoticed. The journey is not about the life of a painter but more about a painter of life. To quote Saint Francis of Assisi, ‘He who works with his hands is a laborer, he who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman, but he who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.’ The journey will continue as long as I have an artistic awareness for the beauty of life as I see it.”

Founders Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
