Oct. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Keith Carmichael celebrated 20 years as a driving instructor with New Driver October 2011. His journey as a driving instructor started in 1991 and is now a Grade 6 ADI, which is the highest grade awarded by the Driving Standards Agency to its Approved Driving Instructors. To date Keith has helped 735 pupils to pass their driving test – an amazing achievement for someone who has worked mainly part time.

Keith Carmichael said about his 20 years as an instructor: “I think the reason why I have stayed in this industry so long is because I really like meeting such a variety of people - I love helping people to pass their test and find that to get the best out of people a good deal of humour is needed. My pet hate is other road users who do not have any respect for learner drivers on the road.”

Keith has noticed many changes in the last twenty years, but still enjoys helping people to learn and pass their driving test. When he first started teaching there was no theory test, hazard perception test, reverse parking manoeuvre in the test, no photographic licences, no Pass plus, no show me tell me, no Twitter / Facebook, little use of mobile phones and certainly no online booking services!

New Driver Managing Director, Alan Morgan: “It’s very rare to have someone in the industry for such a long period and especially with the same franchise all that time.  New Driver has been going for 23 years so he really is one of our longest serving instructors and I feel proud that with our support he has enjoyed his role for so long.”

New Driver is very proud of Keith and wishes him many more years in the industry with New Driver!
