Events at Suchitra Academy

A glimpse of the gamut of activities conducted at Suchitra Academy, over the fortnight

Oct. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- The long Dusshera break rejuvenated each and every one of us and we returned to school ready to face the fortnight with renewed enthusiasm. The week started on a very positive note, as both, the children and the teachers, were happy to see each other.
The long Bandhs and Dusshera break also created some interesting situations on the first day of school. Apparently, this long break had a mild amnesia effect on a few children. During lunch, on the very first day, a child from Grade I saw the computer teacher and wanted to wish her. With great effort he tried to remember her name but in vain and ultimately blurted out “Good afternoon Monitor ma’am!” Well, so what if he forgot the name, he still got the person right!

The Preprimary children had an interesting fortnight. The last week focused on the modes of transport wherein they even got to see model gliders and airplanes. They also had a cleanliness and hygiene day where they cleaned and tidied their dining room after the lunch. This activity stressed on the importance of cleanliness in our lives.
From Monday, 17th October the Pre-primary section started with their colour week. Every day the children and the teachers dressed up in a specified colour. This was an introduction to different colours (pink, purple and blue) and their different hues. They all looked adorable and oh, so proud!

For the school, the theme for the week was Jobs at my school. Each day during the week the students were introduced to the various people like the ayahs, drivers, watch-men, cooks, electrician etc. who work incessantly to make the school a safe and comfortable place.
The children got an opportunity to understand the importance of their work and thank them for their help and patience. This was a small step in inculcating a sense of respect for all and understand the value of dignity of labour.

Ill leave you with a few lines from a poem titled ‘Children are amazing’ by Mel Vincent Basconcillo.
Laughter echoes through the skies, - children are amazing
So young and so innocent Care free yet compassionate and kind
From birth to walking and finally speaking ''Dada''
- children are amazing
Enthusiastic at day, pristine at night
Naive and curious, motivated to learn
Heaven sent, God's little miracles - children are amazing
End
