From The Fastest Man in the World to Local Children and Adults, Douglas Rapid Rehab And Orthotic Lab

Nov. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- One of the contributing factors in the phenomenal success of superstar athlete, Usain Bolt, has been treatment by Dr. Michael Douglas and his Rapid Rehab and Orthotics team.  Bolt, the three time Olympic Gold Medal runner and his fellow team mates have worked with Douglas regularly over an 18 year period.  As a result, Douglas has become internationally known for his expertise in the examination and treatment of athletes, adults and children.  He recently celebrated his one year anniversary at his local office in Coral Springs.

Dr. Douglas founded his Rapid Rehab and Custom Orthotics practice in 1985.  There are currently three locations in South Florida providing world class diagnostic and treatment services for a diverse group of people.  Douglas’s current mission is to focus on young athletes in middle school and high school.  Proper diagnosis and advanced orthotics can be crucial in preventing and recovering from injuries that can cut short a potentially great athletic career.  Car accidents and falls often result in injuries Douglas Rapid Rehab is expert in treating but the bodies of athletes are regularly exposed to high stress - catching problems before they get serious can be crucial.

When asked about why he chose his particular field, Douglas stated, “I valued health and nutrition early on. I wanted to learn more about how to be healthy, and at the same time, I wanted to help others.  Working all these years with athletes and adults, it became more and more apparent that foot problems can cause a lot of different conditions.  If there is a problem with the arch, it will affect the whole body”.

“I’ve had the privilege of examining and treating adults and children of all ages for 26 years, and during this time, I’ve treated almost every muscle, skeletal and nerve condition and understand how each advances over time.  The importance of catching problems early is my reason for reaching out to young athletes, their parents and coaches to detect those problems that are very common but often missed. I can look at someone very young and visibly see over time how the body will change.”

“I believe that if we could just detect those common issues that children and young adults have that are being missed, they will not be held back from reaching their true potential.”

The Douglas Rapid Rehab and Custom Orthotics facilities have become an international destination for athletes.  While the Rapid Rehab operation has helped heal thousands of people for more than 25 years, the work of the Orthotics Research Lab has often been the key to preventing injuries.  The Coral Springs office makes access convenient for local athletes, their parents and coaches as well as anyone needing rehabilitation after an accident.
