Oct. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- What do you get when you mix a famed zombie maker to an unromantic comedy?  Billy Baxter Presents: “Love Stalker.”  Lensed in the St. Louis metro area, filmmakers Matt Glasson, Bowls MacLean and Dave Ohliger bring their UNromantic comedy home for its festival premiere at the St. Louis International Film Festival (9:00pm Tuesday, November 15th at Webster University).

Glasson, MacLean, Ohliger and actress Rachel Chapman will be in attendance for the Q&A following the film.  Please contact the film’s publicist Marla Stoker (Marquee Media and Marketing) if you plan to attend, would like to speak with anyone involved in the film or if you would like a screener copy to review for your outlet.

“LOVE STALKER is a prime example of micro-budget independent cinema at its best. It’s stylish, well-written, hip, and…quite funny” (We Are Movie Geeks).

“Love Stalker” is the story of a 30-something bar-hopping player named Pete (writer/director Glasson) who lives to “play the game” and bed as many women as possible to reach his "golden number." Things change for him once he meets Stephanie (Rachel Chapman), a web-savvy relationship blogger, and the two begin to get romantic. However, when she discovers the extent of his player ways, she ends the relationship, driving Pete to stalker-like lengths in his rom-com inspired efforts to win her back.

Before it was an “unromantic comedy,” Love Stalker started as a short film that was written, shot and edited over one intense weekend in the summer of 2009 as part of St. Louis’s 48 Hour Film Project where it took home the Best Actor award.  In the year that followed, a feature-length script volleyed from St. Louis to Brookyln during the collaborative writing process between Glasson and MacLean.   They then raised half the production budget through the crowd-funding site IndieGoGo and, in September of 2010, hit the streets of the metro area to shoot the film.  Aside from their cast and crew, the single greatest asset to the production was the many local businesses that generously allowed filming in their establishments (location list attached).  The filmmakers’ use of these St. Louis specific venues adds a great look to the film as well as shows off the city in a way you normally don’t see on the big screen.

After seeing an early cut of the film, notorious producer and Cannes personality Billy “Silver Dollar” Baxter stepped in to lend his name to the film.  Baxter made headlines in the business during the 1970’s producing films like “Love and Anarchy” and “Outrageous!”  But a chance encounter at Cannes led to his zombie immortality when he was brought on to help George A. Romero finish his zombie epic “Dawn of the Dead.”  Billy continues to operate behind the scenes of showbiz from his apartment on the Upper West Side of New York City.

The filmmakers got an early glimpse of Hollywood glamour and the hustle it takes to get noticed when they took their film to screen in the Marché during the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.  Backed by Baxter’s reputation, Glasson and Ohliger hit the Marche with their lead actress handing out silver dollars just like Billy did back in the day.  After a whirlwind few days, they headed back to the states with a Cannes screening under their belt, a Variety photo shoot and a mention from GQ magazine…an extremely successful freshman experience for an independent film.

The team is thrilled to have Love Stalker receive its official festival premiere at the St. Louis International Film Festival in November. To them it is only fitting that the film should have its official unveiling in the city that made Love Stalker possible in the first place.
