Google’s Handset division Motorola maintains a Year-on-Year (YoY) Growth rate of 8 % in Q3 2011
A new research report from Signals and Systems Telecom estimates that Motorola has shipped over 79 million handsets in Q3 2011, representing sales of over 2.433 Billion USD.
• Following slow growth during the economic recession in 2008, 2009 and 2010, the year 2011 will see global handset shipments increase by 12 % to 1.75 billion, followed by a further increase in 2012 with 1.88 billion global handset shipments. On average approximately 460 million handsets will be shipped each quarter.
• Apple and leading android manufacturers Samsung and HTC will maintain the highest YoY growth rates up till 2012
• Apple to lead the revenue share with projected sales of 12 Billion USD in Q3 2011 alone.
• Nokia will experience a negative YoY growth rate of -9 % in 2011 due to Symbian slip-ups, which is further projected to improve to -1 % in 2012
The Q3 2011 edition of the ‘Worldwide Handset Vendor Shipments and KPIs’ report and database includes shipments, financial metrics and quarterly market share for major handset vendors worldwide, such as Apple, HTC, LG Electronics, Motorola, Nokia, RIM, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. In addition to quarterly report figures from Q1, Q2 and Q3 2011, the report also projects yearly and quarterly forecasts up to Q4 2012. Furthermore the report also considers shipments from other legitimate vendors as well as ‘Grey’ or illegally manufactured handsets, which presently account for over 5.9 % of total handset shipments.
