Maine Family Goes the Extra Mile With Their Wall Stencils

Recently a couple from Maine, Stephanie and Scott, took the forest theme stencil kit to the next level by using it to create four original scenes in their family playroom.

The couple wanted to design a space for their two boys – ages 3 ½ and 1. The room they painted measured 20' x 24', so the space was no small task to decorate and turn into something warm and inviting. The family chose to use the Forest Friends stencil kit for their project because they wanted to have something that was a cheery outdoor scene to help take them through the long Maine winters. When Scott’s father suggested making each wall a different season, the couple was sold on the idea and could not wait to implement their vision.

Fortunately, the My Wonderful Walls stencil kits are highly reusable, and to re-create the scenes uniquely on each wall, Stephanie and Scott only needed to pull the stencils off the walls while the paint was still wet, clean off the stencils with baby wipes, and them re-apply them where desired. According to Stephanie, while it didn't completely prevent paint build-up, it did make it possible to re-use the stencils many times and in different ways.

To further customize the walls, they also put their family name on the sign that came with the kit. Stephanie printed the sign out as a PowerPoint slide and then used the carbon paper that came with the stencils to get the basic form of the new sign stencil onto the wall. From there, it was simply a matter of filling it all in with a small brush and the room was complete.  

When asked what their favorite part of the new room was, the couple easily answered, “We really like the fall leaves - they are bright and cover the wall nicely. Also, we like the owls on the bare trees in winter. I think those are the baby's favorites, too.” The couple was very happy with their choice to use My Wonderful Walls, and- given the chance – they would recommend the company to anyone else looking to create a magical wall mural for their family.
