Furnishing Fun and Function: Fabulous Finishes Opens in Shelby Township

Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Shelby Township, Mich., October 20, 2011 – Fabulous Finishes, one of metro Detroit’s leading professional decorative finishing companies, announced the Grand Opening of its first-ever retail store and studio location in Shelby Township. The store/studio, located at 49972 Van Dyke, in the Atlas Jeweler Mall between 22 and 23 Mile Rds., features retail products including paints and stencils; and offers workshops and classes for hobbyists and do-it-yourselfers as well.

Patty Henning, owner and founder of Fabulous Finishes is enthusiastic about the store/studio combination, “People will have so much fun here – we have samples galore to see and touch, and there’s inspiration everywhere!”

What can a visitor expect at Fabulous Finishes? “Everyone’s experience is unique, but personally rewarding,” Patty says. “The possibilities are endless – someone can come in and refinish or repurpose their own cabinets, furniture piece or accessories; or they can find the perfect finished piece to complete their décor.”

Fabulous Finishes is an official distributor of Caromal Colours, a wonderful line of easy-to-use decorative finishing products designed for the crafty do-it-yourselfer; and Patty is a Regional Director for Caromal Colours as well. “My role is to educate people about the products and to demonstrate how much can be done with them. I do that with in-store demos, and with our regularly scheduled studio workshops.”

Besides fun and function, Patty notes another important philosophy of Fabulous Finishes; “Our focus is reuse and re-purposing,” she says, on a serious note. “In the currently economic times, it’s important to make every dollar count. Refinishing can give a ‘brand new’ look at a fraction of the cost.  

“And we’re green, too! We’re not adding old cabinets and furniture to landfills, instead we’re being environmentally responsible and transforming them and giving them new life. Of course, we’re only ‘green’ in that sense – you’ll find lots of colors here,” Patty adds with a smile.
