Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- In the week when reports reveal UK inflation rates have risen to record levels and unemployment hits a 17-year high, you’d expect consumers to be cutting back on holidays, but not according to TNT Multimedia whose annual Sun & Snow Travel Show generated record bookings for its exhibitors.

4,000 travel-hungry people poured through the doors of the QEII Centre in Westminster, London on Saturday 15 October for the one-day consumer show. Aimed specifically at young travellers aged between 18 to 39, visitors spent thousands of pounds on exclusive travel deals and discounted breaks, some buying several holidays on the day.

One girl remarked, "I came to buy one holiday, but it was so cheap I'm going back for another one!”

Kevin Ellis, CEO of TNT Multimedia, commented, "It’s great to hear so many people are still booking holidays, despite the economic woe. The show has been a huge success and our exhibitors are ecstatic with their sales figures. It just proves that even when money is tight, people still want to travel, particularly if there’s a bargain to be had!”

Exhibitors provided special offers and deals of up to 50 per cent off normal prices for those attending the show. What’s more, many were giving away holiday prizes during a host of competitions held throughout the day.

Visitors and aspiring travel writers were also treated to tips and advice from various highly acclaimed travel writers and editors including Lonely Planet’s Laura Lindsay who spoke about budget destinations; Gadling’s editor Grant Martin flew in especially from Chicago to discuss travel blogging and ways to make money from your travels and Pat Riddell and Maria Pieri from National Geographic Traveller Magazine revealed 2012’s up-and-coming destinations.

Caroline Gibson, sales & marketing, from MacBackpackers said, “We love coming to the TNT Travel Shows as year-on-year more people come to book their holidays. At this year’s show our bookings were up 20% on the 2010 show which is awesome.”

Katy Freeman, marketing executive of HAGGiS, Shamrocker & Busabout, stated, “This is the fourth time we’ve attended the TNT Sun & Snow Show.  It’s always a great atmosphere.  Our stand was packed full with enthusiastic backpackers keen to get a good deal and we made record bookings on the day.”

Danniell Saunders, marketing & product manager of Encounters Travel said, “The TNT Sun & Snow Show was fantastic, we launched our new brand, Encounters Travel, to a perfect audience who were out in force to book trips!”

The next TNT Travel Show will be on Saturday 3 March 2012 at Earls Court 2 and is London’s biggest FREE travel show.
