HORSESHOE BAY, TX (10/12/11) Escondido in Horseshoe Bay welcomed visitors from July 4 through October 2 to tour the 2011 Southern Living Idea House. Escondido, http://www.escondidotexas.com, is a short drive from both Austin and San Antonio. The community is situated along a quiet and inviting cove with easy access to the open water of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, one of a handful of constant level lakes in Texas.

“The unprecedented public exposure of Escondido, a private, gated, membership-only enclave gave some 12,000 visitors to the Southern Living Idea House a glimpse of the glamorous and advantaged lifestyle that awaits those seeking a unique, privileged experience,” said Escondido’s General Manager, George Punoose. “We were delighted to open our security gates during specific time periods to thousands of visitors during the three-month run of the 2011 Southern Living Idea House built in Escondido.”

A major draw for property owners and members in Escondido lies quietly behind the Tuscan-inspired stacked-stone walls — a private, award-winning golf course designed by Tom Fazio, the famed architect of golf courses worldwide.

“Making full use of the beautiful dramatic Texas Hill Country terrain, natural waterways and dense stands of live oak trees, Fazio created a wondrous work of art at Escondido. It feels natural and is elegantly tied-in to its unaffected surroundings,” said Punoose.

Tom Fazio is considered one of the nation’s top golf course architects, designing courses that routinely appear on Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses” list. Fazio has been recognized multiple times in Golfweek’s “America’s Best”. During his 40-plus year career Fazio has earned more credits than any other living designer and is the only 10-time winner of Golf Digest’s “America’s Best New Courses” award.

David Mitchell, principal of Casa Highland Construction in Horseshoe Bay, built Southern Living’s 2011 Idea House. “Allowing the general public to tour the Idea House gave us the unprecedented opportunity to create awareness of Escondido.   Through one-on-one conversations and take-a-way materials we were able to showcase the variety of amenities that owners, members and their guests enjoy,” Mitchell continued.

“With only 72 resident memberships remaining in this intimate community of 380 home sites, Escondido is vibrant and alive, yet never crowded,” said Escondido Marketing Director, Brandon L. Miller.

The options for ownership include:

•   Estate Home sites — For those not yet ready to build, home sites have been selected to offer the utmost in privacy and natural beauty. Each site offers lake, golf course, waterfront or Texas Hill Country views and ranges from one-third to one-half acre, allowing residents ample space to create their dream home.

•   Luxury Homes — Escondido’s finished luxury homes are designed and crafted by the finest architects and builders in the Texas Hill Country. They are heavily influenced by the Old World architecture of Italy and Spain. Each home is unique and makes use of rustic stone and wood. Terracotta tile roofs and deep-set windows enhance the refined pastoral setting.

•   The Club Residences — Members of the Club Residences will be able to select from a prestigious collection of estate homes to use during their vacation stays. While staying in the Club Residences, members can fully enjoy the exclusive Escondido lifestyle and all of the Escondido Golf & Lake Club’s world-class amenities.
