Amherst, NY Firm, Kideney Architects, Participates in National Trust for Historic Preservation Conference

Oct. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Amherst, NY – Kideney Architects is pleased to announce that Kristin Lipinoga, Clarence resident, Marketing Coordinator/Intern Architect, will be presenting her research on the adaptive re-use of Catholic Churches in Western New York.  Her education session, titled  “Creating Value from Vacant Sacred Space”  will be held Thursday morning as part of the National for Historic Preservation Conference.  

Kideney Architects is also excited to sponsor the exhibit, “Buffalo’s Bethune: America’s First Professional Woman Architect.”  The exhibit at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, commemorates the career of Louise, Blanchard Bethune, the first woman architect and a Buffalo resident. The exhibit opened this past Wednesday, October, 12, and will be on display throughout the conference.  Included in the exhibit are examples of modern female architects carrying on Bethune’s legacy, including two female registered architects from Kideney, Amherst resident, Tracy Conhiser-Uy, RA, NCARB, LEED AP, Executive Associate, and North Buffalo resident, Anne Dafchik, RA, LEED AP.  

Kideney Architects is also proud to sponsor, in collaboration with the School of Architecture and Planning at UB, a tour of the grain elevators. Kideney Architects is excited to assist in enabling this rare opportunity to view the landmark structures. A reception will be held at the elevators on Friday where participants can take a tour inside the silos and hear presentations on their use, construction, history, and role in the beer industry. A photographic exhibit, videos and grain “elevator music” will supplement the tours.
