Dana Point Concours D’elegance Announces New Officers For 30th Anniversary Celebration
The Dana Point Concours d’Elegance, host of the premier celebration of automotive elegance in Southern California, has announced its new officers for the 2011-2012 year.
“The new group of volunteer officers is already doing a fantastic job planning our upcoming event,” said Dick Waitneight, chairman of the board of the Dana Point Concours. “Thirty years is an incredible milestone and we’re confident that they will make this Concours one of the best automotive events of the season. Our goal is to assemble the finest collection of classic, high performance automobiles and vintage motorcycles in Southern California, as well as a gathering of historically significant people who were part of their amazing stories.”
The 2011-2012 Dana Point Concours d’Elegance officers are as follows:
• Dick Waitneight, chairman of the board
• Pieter Dwinger, vice chairman
• Brian Dawson, vice chairman
• Jeff Spellens, president
• Mark Buehler, vice president / general counsel
• Jodie Robison, chief financial officer
• Bill Motta, artistic director
• Lis Nichols, artistic director / publications
• Wally Clark, automobile chairman
• Bill McClennen, motorcycle chairman
• Bruce Junor (past president), advisor
• Brian Turner, sponsorship and marketing consultant
As the 2010-2011 director of advertising for the Dana Point Concours, Spellens is returning to the board for a second term, this year as president. His mission is to expand opportunities for the organization and create a team atmosphere among volunteers and board members. Currently the customer liaison at Mercedes-Benz of Laguna Niguel, Spellens also brings invaluable automotive experience to the position.
Through his past experience as vice president of the Bob Hope Hollywood USO, Spellens gained extensive knowledge of non-profits that will assist with his current role. While working with the USO, Spellens facilitated fundraising in support of the organization’

The Dana Point Concours d’Elegance will feature an array of activities for enthusiasts of all ages during the weekend, including a private collection tour, art showcase and more than 200 of the finest classic automobiles and vintage motorcycles vying for a top honors in 30 different classes.
