Bangladeshi actor accused of stealing intellectual property

Oct. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- One of the Bangladeshi drama actors and occasional producers, Tarin has been accused of stealing intellectual property of a Bangladesh film production and distribution company.

Tarin, who entered the entertainment media a few decades back through the nation-wide talent hunt of state-owned Bangladesh Television. Later she married film director Sohel Arman [son of celebrated film director Amzad Hossain]. But she divorced Sohel just in less than a couple of years.

Recently she has invested money in production of a telefilm named ‘Shongshoy’, which is directed by Tanvir Hosain Probal. It may be mentioned here that, production of a telefilm named ‘Shonghshoy’ completed several months back, which was produced by Vibgyor Films. Following announcement of Tarin of her telefilm named ‘Shongshoy’, Vibgyor Films authorities have already issued statement in the media condemning the stealing of intellectual property of this organization by actor Tarin, which is considered as punishable crime under the existing laws of the land.

Meanwhile, Vibgyor Films has also instructed their legal advisors to initiate legal actions against Tarin and the director of the telefilm named ‘Shongshoy’ if they will not refrain from stealing the intellectual property of the company.

It may also be mentioned here that, Tarin has reportedly made arrangement with private TV channel ATN-Bangla for broadcast of the telefilm with the stolen name.

Commenting on this, legal advisor of Vibgyor Films, advocate Govinda Pramanik said: We shall wait for next 2-3 days to see, if she [Tarin] will withdraw the name through newspaper notification. Otherwise, we have instructions from our client [Vibgyor Films] to take legal action against Tarin as well as the director of the telefilm, Tanvir Hosain Probal. Necessary court orders will also be sent to the management of ATN-Bangla to refrain from broadcasting any telefilm named ‘Shongshoy’, as the name is an intellectual property of Vibgyor Films.

Vibgyor Films already completed the production of the telefilm named ‘Shongshoy’, which will be aired in any of the private television channels during eid. Bangladeshi actor Shoeb, Tanjika, Probir Mitra, Nasima Khan, Abdul Aziz and others worked in this telefilm. Photography of this telefilm is by S.D. Babul.
