UK Physiotherapy Clinic Therapeutics Launch New Gait Analysis Service

Oct. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- The UK physiotherapy and sport injury clinic located at Trojans Club in Eastleigh, Hampshire now offers a full biomechanics service using the latest state of the art Vicon Motion Capture System which is an advanced 3D motion analysis system to analyse gait.

Athletes and patients can have their internal biomechanics analysed while walking and running to help identify a source of a problem or to assess performance.  

Kim Waters, who founded Therapeutics in 1994, said that, “This system can be used to complement existing physiotherapy and podiatry in rehabilitation and diagnosis. Or can be used in isolation to produce individual gait analysis reports to help athletes and runners find the right footwear”.

“We are really excited to be able to offer this specialised service and helps to broaden the range of services on offer here at Therapeutics,” Kim added.

The Vicon Motion System consists of four wall mounted cameras which captures the three-dimensional movement data at 120Hz. Using a clinically validated model, the data is analysed which results in quantitative information in joint movements in the three planes of motion.  

The new service is already producing successful results. One client who previously suffered knee pain, is now able to run pain free following having their gait analysed and then followed up with physiotherapy sessions, proving that clients are really benefitting.
