AccessEN Forum Addresses Legal Requirements for Protecting Intellectual Property
Access Executive Network, Los Angeles will sponsor a presentation by local attorney Robert “Bob” Fish on the legal requirements surrounding the protection of compelling intellectual property on October 19, 2011 at 6:00 PM in Culver City, Calif.
According to Mr. Fish, even though someone may have a brilliant idea, product, and people, it is essential to protect them all. Topics to be considered include how to file a patent; what the process is; how to defend a patent(s); whether to file trademarks and on what; what the difference is between trademarks and service marks; and what the costs are associated with protecting IP.
Mr. Fish started his legal career in 1990, and has worked for prestigious law firms as well as his own law practice, with a strong focus on Intellectual Property. His firm, Fish & Associates, is a boutique practice handling the needs of start-up clients. He has attracted a world-class clientele in a wide array of fields, including medical devices, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, electronics, computer software, and mechanical arts. His clients have included Fluor Corporation, University of California, Irvine; and Lantronix, among others. He has prosecuted numerous matters for companies such as Honeywell International, Inc., ICN Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and SRI International. Mr. Fish currently oversees more than one thousand active patent and numerous trademark matters, including extensive foreign filings. He is also involved in several patent enforcement programs, which include in-bound and out-bound licensing, arbitration, and litigation. He is the author of several books including Cost-Effective Patenting (2004), Strategic Patenting (2007), and the soon-to-be-published Inventor's Guide to Patenting, the Investor's Guide to Patenting, and the University's Guide to Patenting. Bob is also the author of the PatentBeast.com website and blog.
