Former FDOT Director of Transportation Development Joins GAI Consultants

Oct. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Orlando, Fla. – George S. Lovett is named Southeast Regional Director of Business Development for engineering and environmental consulting firm, GAI Consultants.

Serving the transportation industry for nearly 25 years, Mr. Lovett joins GAI’s Southeast operations following his retirement from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Most recently, he worked for FDOT-District Five as the Director of Transportation Development, managing all District functions in production and project management, design, surveying and mapping, planning, public transportation, project development and environment, and right-of-way.

“George Lovett brings extensive diversified knowledge and experience to GAI through his many years of addressing public infrastructure issues with FDOT,” offered GAI President and CEO, Gary DeJidas, P.E.

During his career with District Five, Mr. Lovett coordinated various programs to accelerate project delivery, increase settlement rates, and reduce project costs. He also functioned as General Counsel at FDOT, where he provided policy and legal advice to staff and implemented policy directives.

“My 24 years at FDOT taught me how to navigate the challenges in financing and building the infrastructure needed for a vibrant Florida economy,” noted Lovett, who will be based in GAI’s Orlando office. “I’m excited to join another great team and help our clients build a bright, sustainable future.”

Mr. Lovett is a member of the Florida Bar, Florida Trail Association, and the American Hiking Society. He serves on the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) Transportation Committee and is a former Port Orange Soccer Club president. George earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University.
