Unifi Supports Tana Netting’s Drive To Use Recycled Yarns For The Production Of Mosquito Nets

Unifi has recently entered into a supply agreement with Tana Netting enabling the manufacturing of polyester mosquito net YAXA® ZERO with recycled yarn Repreve

Oct. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- With continuous and genuine endeavor to expand its existing product portfolio with more eco-friendly products, Tana Netting has entered into cooperation with Unifi to be able to produce the world’s first mosquito net containing recycled yarns. Initially only Tana Netting’s untreated travel net range YAXA® ZERO will be manufactured using a minimum of 30% Repreve but other products will certainly follow. YAXA® ZERO is already certified by Unifi through the U TrustTM verification program, using FiberprintTM technology.

Repreve is made with 100% recycled fiber and manufactured like no other recycled yarn in the world. It conserves energy resources because it offsets the need to use newly refined crude oil. On average, every kilogram of Repreve polyester yarn conserves the equivalent of 3.3 liters of gasoline.

Starting October 2011, YAXA® ZERO packaging may carry the “Repreve” logo to ensure customers that the product meets the high quality standards of Unifi. This achievement elevates the status of YAXA® ZERO to be a truly green mosquito net and signifies another milestone in the YAXA® product development by applying green innovation technology to a traditional product. YAXA® ZERO provides customers with both single and double size mosquito nets in different shapes: rectangular, conical and pyramid, all available at YAXA’s on-line shop at www.yaxa.co.th

“I am convinced that our cooperation with Unifi under the Repreve program will allow us to start a new wave of eco-friendly product development” said Wanarat Jaroonsoponsawat, Account Manager Outdoor & Travel. “We are so proud of being the first company that can offer environmentally friendly mosquito nets to travelers around the world.”

In a later stage, Tana Netting has plans to incorporate the recycled yarns into the insecticide impregnated travel nets as well under the YAXA® brand and even into the LLINs (Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets) that are sold into the public health domain under the DAWA® brand. "Today's announcement marks another important milestone in our journey to achieve 100 percent use of recycled materials when Unifi’s certified yarns will be used in all our products. We are very pleased that Unifi, as one of our partners, is sharing our vision on eco-friendly production of mosquito nets and is enabling this for us" said Jurgen Swinckels, Tana Netting’s Managing Director.
