Rick Parnell releases latest CD "Imperfect Beauty"

In 2008 Rick Parnell began to create a vision of his musical career.  He was thinking of putting together a band during that time.  Prior to this life changing vision, Rick performed with family, friends and colleagues at home.  Sometimes he would do a show for private functions or charity affairs.  Once he began writing and singing his own music, the decision to include his father was a no brainer.  Hart Parnell was the most natural choice for lead guitar given that they had frequent jam sessions together.  Rick had met masterful percussionist Terry Martyniuk through a local songwriting club called The 50 Cent Club and the vision of that rock band became more of a reality.  

Rick Parnell is proud to announce the release of latest CD “Imperfect Beauty”.  Single “She’s the Wind” leads the way as you embark on a journey through the life of Rick Parnell.   “She’s the Wind” was written through the eyes of love and the yearning of what once was.  “The title is the opening line, capturing the concept; In three words yearning, mystery and loss are all caught”, states Rick.  This single has such glorious qualities to it including the layering of guitar tracks, vocals, lyrics and the overall sound which projects a fullness which is characteristic of Rick’s folk/rock songs today. Ian Lopez Canoza sang backup vocals on this single only.    One of many common threads that run through Rick Parnell’s music is melodic hooks, vocal harmonies and the flowing nature of his songs.  The fusion of sounds from rock, folk and country have created a unique texture to his music.   It seems that the decision to bring Rick and Hart Parnell’s unique personalities together through music have also been beneficial to all involved.    

“Imperfect Beauty” was digitally released on May 15, 2011 and out physically on July 15th, 2011.   Prior to this CD Rick had released a six song EP titled “One Eye Open” which was released in May, 2009.  

Rick Parnell’s band continues to book shows in and around British Columbia’s Lower Mainland.  He is currently thinking about doing a cross-country tour for the summer of 2012 but no further information is available at this time.
