Oct. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- New York – The Junior League, one of the largest, most effective women’s volunteer organizations in the world, today announced that it will participate as a major partner in the second year of Kimberly-Clark’s Huggies® Every Little Bottom program, which will donate more than 22.5 million diapers to babies and moms in need in North America in 2011. In the first year, the 26 participating Leagues exceeded their goals with a total of 226,559 diapers collected in 76 separate drives.

Delly Beekman, President of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., said, “We are pleased to commit to another year of support for this important and innovative initiative. Helping at-risk communities of women and children has been at the core of The Junior League mission since our founding 110 years ago in New York City. I am proud of the contribution made by participating Leagues in the first year of the program, which exceeded our expectations.”

Kevin Brown of Huggies® Every Little Bottom said, “The Junior League has been a great partner, and we look forward to working with even more participating Leagues in the second year of the program. League members have not only collected an impressive number of donated diapers, they have been instrumental in spreading the word about diaper need in their communities through their newsletters, websites and social media as well as personal contacts with friends and families.”

Huggies® Every Little Bottom program started with a groundbreaking study, commissioned in 2010, revealing that one in three American mothers and one in five Canadian mothers struggle to provide diapers for their babies. These mothers have had to cut back on basics such as food, utilities like heat or electricity, or even child care in order to provide enough diapers.

Here is the list of participating Junior Leagues: the Junior League of Edmonton, the Junior League of Rockford, IL, the Junior League of Douglas County, GA, the Junior League of Columbus, OH, the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta, the Junior League of Central Westchester, the Junior League of Saginaw Valley, the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties, the Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties, the Junior League of Northern Virginia, the Junior League of Summit, the Junior League of Lansing, the Junior League of Greater Springfield, the Junior League of Greater Princeton, the Junior League of Dayton, the Junior League of Colorado Springs, the Junior League of Boca Raton, the Junior League of Annapolis, the Junior League of Evanston North Shore, the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, the Junior League of South Brevard, the Junior League of Los Angeles, the Junior League of Fairmont, the Junior League of Spartanburg, the Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield, the Junior League of Bergen County, and the Junior League of Pittsburgh.
