Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- West Columbia, S.C. – Help Lexington Medical Center raise national awareness about breast cancer!  Voting has begun in the Medline “Pink Glove Dance” video competition.  Lexington Medical Center is one of 135 hospitals across the United States that has entered a video in this creative contest that designed to educate our communities about breast cancer and inspire patients and survivors.

Hundreds of Lexington Medical Center employees, including several breast cancer survivors, gathered on our hospital campus to dance in the video wearing pink gloves with a routine choreographed to the Katy Perry song “Firework.”  The organization with the winning video in the contest will receive $10,000 to donate to a breast cancer charity of its choice.

The original Pink Glove Dance video premiered in 2009 in Portland, Oregon with hospital workers wearing pink gloves and dancing in support of breast cancer awareness.  That video received more than 13 million You Tube views and spawned hundreds of pink glove dance videos across the country.  Additionally, the dance has been featured on national television news programs.  The response to the videos from health care workers, cancer survivors and family members around the world has been overwhelming and heartwarming.

Medline Industries Incorporated, a company that manufactures pink gloves, filmed the first video.
