Oct. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- have reported a large increase in activity throughout the summer period. The website acts as an introduction platform for specialist “excess” insurance companies. Visitors to the site find out more about the individual advertiser’s insurance product, make their decision and then enter the insurance company’s own site to transact the purchase.  All dealings are between the purchaser and insurance company.

According to the number of visitors to the site has been increasing since the holiday period began late in April over Easter and the site has generated an increase in commission compared with the same period in 2010.

Philip Suter of JML Property Services said ”We are fortunate that visitors to our site have a choice of nine providers of car hire excess insurance, two specialist motorhome / campervan excess insurance companies and two van hire excess insurance companies. Many of these companies cover customers from countries outside the UK and to reflect this have set up an Ireland page featuring those companies looking after customers in the Republic”

“If a customer lives in New Zealand or Norway they should be able to buy the excess insurance, but should always check the individual insurance company’s terms and conditions first.”

The economic climate has meant that a lot of people are now hiring a motorhome for their holidays. Not only can you buy, motorhome hire excess insurance via the site but you can also arrange the vehicle’s hire as well (along with car hire and van rental).

Two of the advertisers on the are offering discounts on some of their products if the purchasers buys their insurance from them via the exclusive link that is on the site. Currently they are who brought car hire excess insurance to the public years ago and Questor Insurance Services.

Buying excess insurance from an independent company is normally a lot cheaper than buying it when you rent a car.

Philip said ”you must decline the car hire company’s product at the time of purchase and also when they try and sell it to you when you collect the vehicle. Despite this unfortunately some companies are still making their customers buy the more expensive product” has a four point check for this.

1)   Keep a copy of the original vehicle hire booking confirming the price.
2)   Keep all paperwork when you collect the vehicle.
3)   Keep the sign off paperwork when you return the vehicle
4)   Check your credit card statement to make sure that you have not been charged for any additions that you never agreed to.

Insurance4carrental has recently updated is large selection of guides to driving in different countries. The guides contain driving information and in many cases additional tourist information on the individual country plus the current weather in one of the cities in that country.

Since it's inception in 2009, the site has developed into a large web site full of useful information around the excess insurance and vehicle hire business. To compliment it the company also runs the blog site “Car Hire Excess Insurance”
