Oct. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Class-ACT Presents a Benefit Concert to support it's Microloans For Mothers program on October 15th from 7-10PM.

“Microloans for Mothers” was envisioned by a group of local women to support their counterparts in the developing world in starting their own business.  The funds are used to provide micro-loans for the mothers of students who attend a school in Cambodia supported by our non-profit organization, enabling them to develop businesses that support their families.

“Microloans For Mothers can change a mother’s life and that of her family forever,” said Niels Lund, Class-ACT Executive Director. “We give small loans of $100 that are paid back with interest, and the interest payment supports the school attended by the mother’s children.”

The benefit event features live music by Rocket Science, food donated by area restaurants, dancing and a raffle/silent auction. The Elks Lodge is located at 1393 Windsor Road, Cardiff by the Sea, CA 92007.  Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased on the Class A.C.T. website at http://www.classactarts.org or call (760) 436-3729.

The Microloans for Mothers program provides small business loans to women in Cambodia. It is a program of Class-ACT, based in Cardiff, California.

The first loans were distributed to five women in Phnom Penh in the fall of 2010 for a six-month cycle that was 100% repaid in early 2011. A new six-month cycle started in July, 2011, now with 15 women in Phnom Penh. In August, 2011, we also provided loans to five more women, this time in a small village in northern Cambodia.

All of the women who receive loans from the Microloans for Mothers have a connection to a school we are connected to with our Childrens Global Art Exchange and our Adopt a School Program. This connection between the three programs is unique in the world of microloans, and we feel it works well in delivering a more comprehensive system of support for the locations we are supporting.
