Bistro One West Now Featuring Jazz Showcase Nights Every Thursday

Oct. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Bistro One West (1 Illinois St. Charles, Ill.; 630-444-0600) has officially made Thursdays “Jazz Showcase Nights” and will feature some of the area’s top jazz every week. The showcase runs 6 to 9 p.m. every Thursday.

Plan a long weekend starting with Thursday, Oct. 13 and the Tom Vaitsas Duo. Tom Vaitsas is one of the most celebrated pianists in the Chicago-area. As a member of The New Standard Quartet, Vaitsas plays the keyboard and bass parts. He has played with many of Chicago’s most talented musicians including Frank D’Rone, Bobbi Wilsyn, Duke Payne and Red Holt.

Following the Vaitsas Duo will be the Nick Schneider Duo, who will play from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20. Schneider has been rated one of the top bass players in jazz today. He has performed with top talent including Randy Brecker, Buddy Rich Big Band, Teddy Wilson and The Tonight Show. He’s also a respected educator, putting together a listening and playing clinic aimed at beginning and advanced players.

The Tom Fitzgerald Duo will round out the October Jazz Series, playing from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 27. Fitzgerald returned to Chicago in 1997 after playing throughout the country. Since then he’s played at the best Chicago’s jazz clubs including The Green Mill and The New Apartment Lounge. Fitzgerald has also made appearances at the Chicago Cultural Center with Von Freeman, on WGN radio with saxophonist Cameron Pfiffner and at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles.

Classic Rock on the weekends
Looking for a change of pace from classic jazz on the weekends?  Bistro One West will be hosting classic rock bands from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. every Saturday in October. Enjoy the cover band Scrambled as they play songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s from 7 to 10 p.m. October 15th. Chicago cover band Avalanche (featuring Dennis O’Brien and Charlie Prazma) will play the following two weeks from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 22 and 29. While enjoying many of the classics from back in the day, watch your favorite college football teams play and enjoy some craft beers.

Monthly dinner club to start in October
Let chef Doug D’Avico blow your mind at the Monthly Dinner Club series set to begin in October at Bistro One West. The exclusive event will be held each month and feature a menu crafted around a specific theme. Space is limited to the first 35 guests, who will be treated to a five-course meal created by D’Avico. The first event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 and will feature a Halloween theme. The event costs $95 and includes tax and gratuity. Call 630-444-0600 to make reservations.

Bistro One West is the perfect location to gather family and friends around the holidays. With so many celebrations approaching, Bistro One West wants to give its patrons a special gift.
