Oct. 12, 2011
-- Memphis, TN – October 11, 2011 – On the evening of Wednesday, October 12th the exterior of the headquarters building of Catholic Charities of West Tennessee (located at 1325 Jefferson Ave., Memphis, TN 38104)
will be bathed in purple lights in an effort to increase awareness about the issue of Domestic Violence in our community.
October is national Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Purple is the official color of the Domestic Violence cause. Catholic Charities of West Tennessee has been providing a safe haven for women and their children fleeing Domestic Violence since 1998 through our Sophia’s House program. All programs operated by Catholic Charities of West Tennessee seek to rehabilitate and fundamentally improve the conditions of those in most desperate need.
An “evening of purple” is being held in conjunction with our bi-monthly Board of Directors meeting and with other employee and client events that are being held during October and throughout the 4th quarter as part of the launch of our Safe Starts Here campaign.
