The Roberts Walthall Hotel in Jackson, Mississippi will host The 2011 National Black Catholic Men’s Conference, “Men to Men” Part II from October 13 - 16, 2011.

The conference, themed “Spiritual Legacy, Reach One Teach One,” is co-sponsored by the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), Chicago Province, the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus, Knights of Peter Claver, and the Diocese of Jackson, Office of Black Catholic Ministry Mr. Will Jemison, Director

The National Black Catholic Men’s Conference began in Memphis, TN, in 2004, calling to Black Catholic Men of God, to step up as leaders in their families, churches and communities.  The conference also provides an open forum where Catholic men of African descent can address issues they face in their daily lives. Subsequent conferences have taken place in Chicago (2005), Houston (2006), Nashville (2007), Atlanta (2008), Birmingham (2009), and New Orleans (2010).

This year’s conference will include:

•   Workshops
•   Pastoral Institute, a Men Fest Rally & Gospel Celebration, praise, worship, adoration, liturgies
•   Health Fair
•   Marketplace
•   Men to Men Fellowship
•   Spiritual Café Reconciliation
•   Harambee Town Hall
•   Healing and Commissioning Service

Attendees will gain practical answers for today’s challenges, new ways to grow in their Catholic faith, a connection with men, ideas for local spiritual programs, a wonderful opportunity to rediscover and renew their Catholic faith, and a deeper union with Jesus.

E. Walter Smith, international singer/songwriter and co-founder of I’m Catholic Cool will perform at the Man Fest Rally & Gospel Celebration at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Thursday night. On Friday morning he will lead the workshop:

"I'm Catholic Cool" - A new song, a new dance, a new vision. How Black men need to think and evaluate where they are as men, co-workers, lovers, husbands, father and brothers in a healthy and developmental manner.

Why the need for a Black Catholic men’s conference? “We are committed Black men, principally Catholic, who recognize our need for God's help! We gather in Christ's presence in an atmosphere of trust, equality and anonymity to share feelings and experiences. We unconditionally accept one another and prayerfully support one another. We feel encouraged by the Holy Spirit with one another…Men to Men!”
