Oct. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- The Etiquette Factory program is a fun and effective way of teaching children manners.  The way in which the program was designed has had a positive effect on some autistic children and their social skills.

The Etiquette Factory offers a home program to help teach children proper manners and etiquette.  Through songs, games, crafts and kind instruction, the program strives to make learning fun, instruction easy, and have lasting results.  The programs can be used as young as the preschool ages and up to the teenage years.  However, all ages can benefit and learn from the programs.

Autism has been diagnosed in many children in the United States.  In June of 2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that nearly 1 in 110 children were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.  These children deal with a variety of symptoms.  According to the Autism Society of America, those with autism “typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities”.  Many behavioral therapists, teachers, and parents everyday try their best to teach manners and social skills to their children.

Monica Irvine of The Etiquette Factory has seen a recent interest in the programs from those in the behavioral therapist field. Reporting that “behavioral therapists from conferences have been expressing their interest and the potential the program has to help those with autism."

Not only are professionals finding this a great possibility, but also parents who have actually used the programs with their children have seen the results.  “[The] curriculum has been so helpful in teaching my son with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) proper social skills… the Etiquette Factory breaks everything down into great detail …He's gained so much confidence in his social skills” says Dede, mother and user of the program.  It is evident that the way the program teaches could make a great impact for children on the Autism spectrum.

The Etiquette Factory was designed to help children see the benefits and rewards of having good manners.   As a Certified Etiquette Instructor, Irvine created The Etiquette Factory for the instruction of children ages preschool through high school.  Along with the unique 3 phase home program, The Etiquette Factory also offers camps around the country and encourages etiquette experts to become an educator for The Etiquette Factory.
